'Queer Film' Screenings at the Towner Art Gallery
The Towner Art Gallery is hosting monthly queer film screenings in its new auditorium following on from the success of the LGBTQ+ History Month showing in February of 'The Celluloid Closet'
Details are as follows:
Sunday 10th June at 2.00pm - Tomboy 2011 100 minutes
Ten year old Laure moves to a new town and decides to dress as a boy
Sunday 15th July at 2.00pm - Desert Hearts 1986 89 minutes
A love story about two women set against a desert landscape with a jukebox soundtrack
Sunday 5th August at 2.00pm - Beau Travail 1999 95 minutes
A French Foreign Legion film set in Djibouti based on Herman Melville's 'Billy Budd'. The film relates the destructive effects of jealousy in a routine environment.

The Towner is also presenting a major season of films entitled 'Women in Film' over the next three months. All the films being screened have been directed or co-directed by women, and most are female-focused. There will also be foreign language and documentary films as well.
